Beyond Fossil Fuels: New Video Highlights North American Voices from the Global Ethical Stocktake

As governments and civil society prepare for the First International Conference on the Transition Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta Colombia, the call for a fast, fair and financed transition is louder than ever.

Indigenous Peoples, frontline communities, scientists, artists, and moral leaders emphasized the catastrophic impacts of fossil fuels at the Global Ethical Stocktake, an international dialogue series on the ethical and spiritual dimensions of the climate crisis that took place ahead of COP30.

In a new video, we hear from some of the voices from two of the GES gatherings in North America. Featured voices include Veronica Raya, Roberto Mukaro Borrero, Noelle Young, Tzeporah Berman, Bette Billiot, Sharon Lavigne, Jacqui Patterson, Darrilyn Turner, Al Gore, Artis Burney, Thaddeus Pawlowski, David Suzuki, Alixa Garcia and Robin Wall Kimmerer.

This video is produced by the Center for Earth Ethics, with thanks to Minister Marina Silva and Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change; COP30 President André Corrêa do Lago; UN Secretary-General António Guterres; and all participants of the GES Regional and Self-Organized Dialogues.
