Ned Joyner

Communications and Education Associate

Ned Joyner is the communications and education associate at the Center for Earth Ethics. His prime directive to aid in the restoration of humanity’s relationship with the natural world animates his work at the Center. With over a decade of involvement in various spheres of the eco-justice world, he is especially invested in efforts to effectuate a robust religious and spiritual response to the intertwined crises of climatic and ecological collapse.  

In addition to his work for the Center, Ned is a multidisciplinary artist. Through musicEarth art and collage, he seeks to harness the healing power of beauty to incite joy, delight and wonder. His diverse artistic endeavors all aim at fostering an Earth-honoring worldview.

Ned studied cultural anthropology at Indiana University. He holds a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary, where he focused on the intersection between religion and ecology. In 2022, Union awarded him the Muilenburg Prize in Biblical Scholarship and the Wyn Wright Prize for Biblical Languages, and in 2023, the Scholarly Excellence Award. He completed his M.Div. field education at Columbia Climate School.

Born and raised in rural Indiana, Ned resides in Washington Heights, Manhattan.
