Navigating Flood Disasters and Housing Justice: A Preparedness Forum for NYC Religious and Community Leaders
September 13, 2023 @ 9:00 am – 2:30 pm UTC-8
In collaboration with the Faith Sector Community Preparedness Program and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene – Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response, NYDIS hosts training summits for New York City religious leaders. The summits, which feature presentations and interactive discussions, will increase knowledge on disaster preparedness and crisis leadership, while connecting NYC clergy to preparedness tools, resources, and partnerships.
This Fall 2023 summit is held in partnership with NYC Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (NYC VOAD) and the NYC Mayor’s Office for Faith-based and Community Partnerships. The summit (full day, in person) aims to engage New York City faith and community leaders around building equitable and sustainable flood disaster community services, with a special focus on understanding the links between disasters and displacement in the city.
