Karenna Gore Discusses the Global Ethical Stocktake with Texas Impact—Interview Featured in Austin Chronicle

While at COP30, Karenna Gore sat down with Texas Impact Executive Director Bee Moorhead for a deep dive on the Global Ethical Stocktake. In the interview, Gore explained how the Global Ethical Stocktake expands the conversation by asking deeper questions about human behavior, values and responsibility.

The point of the Global Ethical Stocktake is to draw from the deeper wells of human wisdom, culture and conscience to answer one underlying question: If we know what it is we need to do to stave off this ecological catastrophe, why are we not doing it? And so it really is a chance for us to recognize the fact that it's not the Earth’s natural systems that need fixing—it's us; it's human perception and behavior. And the Global Ethical Stocktake is a way to address that.

The conversation was later featured in the Austin Chronicle’s COP30 coverage. Highlighting an event in the GES Pavilion in which Gore shared the stage with Minister Marina Silva, Wanjira Mathai and others, the article reiterated an Ida. B. Wells quote that began Gore’s remarks: “The way to right wrongs is to shine the light of truth upon them.”
