Rosie Semlyen

Research Associate

Rosie Semlyen is a research associate at the Center for Earth Ethics. She is currently pursuing an MA in Climate and Society at the Columbia University Climate School and is a 2025 Fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy.
 
Originally from York, United Kingdom, Rosie has worked and studied in France, Canada and now the U.S. She holds a BA in Anthropology and Geography from Durham University, where she specialized in climate change, energy and environmental politics, and social movements. Over the past seven years, she has been deeply involved in environmental activism, organizing campaigns against fossil fuel expansion, mining and ecosystem destruction.
 
Rosie is passionate about fostering strong, resilient communities and believes in prefigurative politics, where our actions today should reflect the world we seek to create. She feels a deep connection to the Earth and finds joy in swimming, hiking and surfing.
