Freedom of Religion or Belief and Indigenous Peoples: A Report Launch Event

April 29 @ 12:30 pm 1:30 pm UTC-8

Join the Center for Earth Ethics during the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues for the report launch of “Freedom to Be: Dialogues on Freedom of Religion or Belief for Indigenous Peoples.” This report highlights key findings from a dialogue series hosted by CEE that brought together Indigenous leaders from different traditions around the world to discuss Indigenous spiritual practices and land conservation, legacies of discrimination against Indigenous Peoples, and the threat of modern development models on Indigenous lifeways.

Hear responses to the report from Dr. Albert Barume, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and Carson Kiburo, Executive Director of the Jamii Asilia Centre in Kenya. Samira Siddique, director of strategic initiatives at CEE, will present a summary of the report, and Roberto Múkaro Borrero, CEE strategic advisor, will moderate the discussion. CEE Executive Director Karenna Gore will introduce and close the program.
