SUMMARY:COP27 - Global Landscapes Forum: The Stories We Live By
DESCRIPTION:The Stories We Live By: The Importance of Ecosystem Restoration through the Lens of Values\, Culture and Spirituality \n\n\n\nAs the world increasingly understands the consequences of the triple planetary crisis\, humanity has  an opportunity to reorient ourselves toward the earth and natural systems. Many grassroots efforts have realized how values-based approaches that integrate culture\, Indigenous knowledge\, and lessons from spiritual traditions can help motivate and sustain meaningful shifts in behavior and attitudes. Within the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration context\, this session will explore how diverse stakeholders can engage with these themes to heal and restore the living Earth. \n\n\n\nCEE Executive Director Karenna Gore will deliver remarks. CEE Director of Sustainability and Global Affairs Andrew Schwartz will moderate this session\, part of the Global Landscapes Forum\, an official side event to COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh\, Egypt.

SUMMARY:Rethinking Thanksgiving: From Land Acknowledgement to LANDBACK
DESCRIPTION:Indigenous solidarity is an essential part of the struggle for racial and environmental justice. It is critical that we deepen our commitment to Indigenous Sovereignty in ourselves and in our movements\, take collective action towards land rematriation and support efforts to ensure a just and sustainable existence for all of our future generations. \n \n \nJoin Tonatierra\, NDN Collective\, American Indian Law Alliance\, Sogorea Te Land Trust and the Indigenous Solidarity Network for “Rethinking Thanksgiving: From Land Acknowledgement to LANDBACK” on Sunday\, November 20 at 1 pm PT/4 pm ET. This webinar is an invitation to interrogate so-called Thanksgiving\, and move beyond the myths of America’s history with Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island. \n \n \nFrom tar sands pipelines across Turtle Island to Arctic oil and gas drilling\, Indigenous campaigns of resistance continue to lead the way in protecting future generations against the destruction of sacred lands and waterways. \n \n \nMoving into a deeper understanding of how colonialism is embedded into our frameworks and systems builds our capacity to be better allies to Indigenous Peoples. In this webinar\, we will hear from the frontlines of Indigenous efforts to resist violence and colonization fueled by the current extractive economic system and gather ways to further and deepen solidarity with Indigenous resistance including land rematriation. \nRegister Today\n \n \nLive Captioning\, ASL and Spanish interpretation will be available on the call. \nAccessibility form here: bit.ly/3tAoMeu
